Dr. Jessica Schleider co-founded S4 in 2021 to forward her longstanding professional mission: Ensuring that all young people can access safe, flexible, evidence-based mental health support—when and how they need it most. As a clinical psychology professor and Founding Director of the Lab for Scalable Mental Health, Dr. Schleider is an international leader in the science behind single-session treatments and digital mental health. In 2020, she was listed among Forbes 30 Under 30 for her work in this area. Her 10+ years of experience creating and evaluating brief mental health supports—along with her commitment to sustainable, impactful solutions to communities' pressing needs—led her to establish S4, where she distills best-practices in brief intervention design into deployment-ready mental health tools.

Michael Mullarkey, Ph.D.
Co-Founder, Co-Director
Dr. Michael Mullarkey co-founded S4 in 2021 because young people’s access to mental health support shouldn’t depend on their family’s ability to pay. The Director of Data Science at the Lab for Scalable Mental Health, Dr. Mullarkey has given national and international workshops on making mental health support more data-driven. He spent multiple years working in high schools to make sure this data-driven approach accurately reflects young people’s lived experiences. He has also placed 2nd in a national machine learning competition and co-written a best-selling book on how to support teens with depression.
